GPCI travels to Austin for State NHD Competition

On Friday, April 27 , 2018, Four GPCI scholars and two instructors travelled to Austin, Texas to compete at the Texas State History Day Competition in connection with National History Day. The competition was held at the Bullock Museum on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

Jessai Flores competed in Senior Paper, Angel Garcia competed in Senior Individual Documentary and Aron Herrera and Jonah Morgan competed in Junior Group Documentary. According to Mary Katherine Marshall, the Texas State History Day coordinator, this was the competition’s biggest turn out.

Jessai Flores won a special award for top Dallas/ Fort Worth entry. In addition to attending the competition, Mrs. Rosenthal, Mr. Brown and the competitiors enjoyed touring the Bullock Museum, the Texas State Capitol Building and the Blanton Art Museum.

Next year’s NHD theme is Triumph and Tragedy.
